Salem is the capital city of Oregon and home to a population of 154,637 (2010 US Census). The city has two universities, Williamette University and Corbin University. Salem’s economy largely revolves around government, agriculture, and food processing counting companies such as Kettle Foods among the companies based here. In the 1990’s Salem attracted computer chip manufacturers to the city in a bid to become a more diverse economy, but some of those companies have been eliminating their plants in the city and moving jobs out of the market.
